Introduction

The Affiliated Experimental Elementary School of National Taichung University of Education was established in 1928. It has thirty general classes ( including three gifted education classes), and two kindergarten classes. The total number of students is over one thousand . With efforts of the school faculty over years, the Elementary School has demonstrated outstanding performance . Distinguished results can be seen in activities such as:

(1) providing diverse curriculum for suitable development and offering extracurricular activities that break the boundary of different grades;

(2) establishing study groups and helping students develop habits for lifelong learning ;

(3) emphasizing life education and students’ personality development;

(4) promoting parent-child activities and PTO s ( parents-teachers organizations );

(5) build ing an e-learning environment to develop students’ global and creativ e view; and

(6) integrating courses of language, literature, and arts and promoting picture book programs .

【School Features】

  1. Language education

Language is the key to all kinds of learning, and our school’s language learning focuses on the balanced development of students’ mother tongue, native and foreign languages. In addition to improving students’ ability to use the language, they also feel the beauty of language and cultivate their interest in language learning. Activities such as class reading clubs and morning quiet reading are also arranged to build students’ reading comprehension strategies, enabling them to have high-level thinking skills and good communication ability.

2. Arts education

Starting with cultivating aesthetics, and then developing the basic skills of artistic creation, the goal is to achieve lifelong learning and appreciation of art. In addition to teaching hand-made picture books and exhibiting student works at the Cultural Affairs Bureau, the school also holds art exhibitions, drama performances, and talent. Shows and other exhibitions and performances, and resources such as off-campus Chinese and Western painters and special exhibitions, children’s troupe performances, music concerts and other resources are introduced to the campus, so that art education can be integrated into life and close to life.

4.Special education

Set up decentralized gifted education class and resource class. 5. Physical Education

In addition to integrating issues related to marine resources and environmental protection into the curriculum, the school implements swimming groups and canoeing teaching. It is expected that the students of the school will have the basic ability to operate light boats to engage in water sports, and cultivate each child to have simple self-rescue in water and proficient swimming skills.
